Participation of girls in sport is vital and important for not just physical health but for building friendships, confidence and self-esteem. Well-being is so important for all.

A growing number of females are choosing basketball as their sport of choice and the YBL want to encourage and harness that drive to play.

As this interest rises year on year, dedicated opportunities to play are essential.

The YBL serves as the perfect entry point to encourage and develop grassroots girls’ basketball, providing fully supported All-Girls divisions that give female athletes a clear, inclusive pathway.

In the 2025/2026 season, one quarter of all YBL participants competed in our All-Girls divisions – an incredible 636 female players!

We look forward to building on this success and celebrating another outstanding season of female participation and growth.
